Cottondale Hornets see live action

The Cottondale Hornets football team saw live action last Friday night for the first time in 2025. They participated in a pre-season jamboree where they faced off against Arnold from Panama City.
Veteran coach Chris Obert said he saw good things and some not so good things. About the scrimmage Friday night, “It was okay. First time, you know seeing live action. We had some mistakes, there were some bad things, there was some good things. We’ll try to build on it and get better.”
Without it being an official game, score was not at the top of the agenda. Obert said, “I don’t really know what the score was. It was like situational and stuff.”
He said they got by with no serious injuries, a little banged up, a little hamstring that’ll heal.
Obert said they will start the season relatively healthy with a couple of weeks to go before the official season begins, “We’ve got a couple banged up, but nothing I see long term.”
Nick Heinemann will be under center for the Hornets and he’s looking for Tramond and Trayshon Collins to step up this season and have a good year. They’ll be looking to Zacarius Collins to be a force on the field carrying the ball.
The team will get another look before the regular season starts. They will host Bozeman on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. This game was originally scheduled for Thursday but was moved this week.
