Word of the Day!
Friday: Frolic; Verb. Play and move about happily. We watched the seals as they frolicked in the harbor.
Saturday: Immutable; Adjective. Unchanging over time or unable to be changed. Some rules in the family were immutable, like always showing up to Sunday dinner.
Sunday: Zeitgeist; Noun. The defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time. She wanted to embrace the zeitgeist of the 1980s for her birthday party.
Monday: Buskin; Noun. A calf-high or knee-high boot of cloth or leather. Wearing buskins on stage is generally seen as a nod to classical Greek tragedy.
Tuesday: Parenthesize; Verb. Put a word, phrase, or clause into parenthesis. The front desk clerk said the kitchen closed at 8:00 p.m. but parenthesized that we could call her if we needed anything.
Wednesday: Ullage; Noun. The amount by which a container falls short of being full. There was just enough ullage in the jug to add a splash of lemonade to the mix.
Thursday: Complement; Noun. Something that completes or brings to perfection. Sometimes a pinch of salt is the perfect complement to a sweet recipe.
