Word of the Day:

Friday: Oaf: Noun. Used to refer to someone as big, clumsy, and slow witted. The main character starts the movie as a tactless, bumbling oaf who is consistently causing offense to everyone around.

Saturday: Nictate: Verb. Blink. In order to win a staring contest, you must resist the urge to nictate.

Sunday: Temerity: Noun. Unreasonable or foolhardy contempt of danger or opposition, rashness, recklessness. His temerity in speaking out shocked everyone in the room.

Monday: Areology: Noun. The study of the planet Mars. My niece dreams of a future in areology when she looks at the night sky with her telescope.

Tuesday: Chapbook: Noun. A small book or pamphlet of a kind, formerly sold by chapmen containing popular tales, treatises, ballads, or nursery rhymes.  The poet sold handmade chapbooks at the farmers’ market.

Wednesday: Portmanteau: Adjective.  Metaphorical. Passed down; transmitted from one to another.  The town crafted the portmanteau name Anaheim – Ana for the river and Heim for home.

Thursday: Caricature: Noun. A drawing or performance (even a piece of writing) that takes a character’s attributes and exaggerates them. The caricature of the performer was on point with his acting.
