Friday: Palter: Verb. To act insincerely or deceitfully; equivocate. 2. Haggle, chaffer. He paltered by answering a different question than was asked of him.

Saturday: Hyperbaton: Noun. A transposition or inversion of idiomatic word order (as ‘echoed in the hills’ for “ the hills echoed”.  The writer threw in some hyperbaton to give the line extra punch.

Sunday: Ennui: Noun. A feeling of weariness and dissatisfaction, boredom. After quitting her job without a plan, she felt more ennui than freedom.

Monday: Chartreuse: Noun. A pale green or yellow liqueur made from brandy and aromatic herbs.  To celebrate the project’s success, the team leader brought in some chartreuse to share.

Tuesday: Neep: Noun. A turnip. Our hostess gave us the recipe for the neep soup she served at the luncheon.

Wednesday: Galvanize: verb. Coat (iron or steel) with a protective layer of zinc. 2. Shock or excite someone into taking action. The new star rookie galvanized the city into basketball fandom after years of lackluster game attendance.”

Thursday: Fusty: Adjective. Smelling stale, clamp, or stuffy. 2. Old-fashioned in attitude or style. People open the windows in your room, because it’s starting to smell fusty.
