Waste Pro gives back to Sneads
By: Shelia Mader
The City of Sneads contracts with Waste Pro for their garbage services. They’re obvious to everyone with their blue tops on every trash container. Waste Pro’s Community Partner reputation is cemented in its motto, “Caring for our Community.” Waste Pro shows their appreciation in a number of ways. Most recently, they hosted their annual dinner for the Town of Sneads employees, along with an invitation to first responders.
The employees didn’t have to be called twice when call went out that lunch was being served by Waste Pro. They knew from Waste Pro’s previous dinners, it would be something that definitely satisfied their palate.
Waste Pro’s Director of Governmental Affairs, Loyd Childree is easily recognizable with his classic smile and his hand extended for a shake with anyone he meets. As is his norm, he was front and center with the preparation, cooking, feeding and the visitation. Childree said on behalf of Waste Pro, “It’s important to us to give back to the communities we serve. We appreciate their entrusting us with a contract to take care of their needs, and we enjoy some social time with their employees. If we can bring a little something extra to them, we are more than glad to do so.”
The employees enjoyed pulled pork, chicken, potato salad, baked beans, and a variety of chips and drinks.
In conclusion, Childree said, “It’s nice to have the opportunity to see the employees in a social setting where they can be relaxed, without punching a time clock, and taking time to see other employees that they may or may not work with or see on any type of regular basis. Waste Pro is a very large company with offices in various locations, and we know firsthand how it is to not be able to see and visit with fellow employees. Dining on a meal together where you can let your hair down and visit is a good way to make that happen.”
City Manager Bill Rentz said, “Sneads has a very strong relationship with Waste Pro. We are always happy to have them acknowledge that relationship by coming over for this appreciation luncheon for our staff and employees. It sends a message to us that the relationship we have with them is important to them just like it is to us.”
The event ran from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with everyone fed and departing with a full stomach.
