Arrest made after altercation at the Sneads football field
On 8-23-25 an Officer with the Sneads Police Department responded to a physical altercation at the Sneads football field. Upon arrival, the Officer spoke with two victims, an adult male and a juvenile male. Both had sustained minor injuries and the suspect had fled the scene prior to the Officer’s arrival. During the course of the investigation the Officer learned that the suspect, Adam Brewton, had reportedly been driving a golf cart recklessly and several witnesses stated that he was intoxicated. The juvenile asked Brewton to please slow down before a child got hurt. Brewton reportedly became irate and attacked the juvenile, knocking him into a chain link fence. The victim sustained a small cut to his head and an avulsion to the side of his hand, along with an abrasion to his neck and chin. After the altercation Brewton got back on the golf cart and drove to the other side of the field. An adult male that was a vendor at the event observed the attack and approached Brewton, asking what his problem was. He was reportedly assaulted by Brewton receiving bloody abrasions to his neck and forearm. A criminal complaint for child abuse was submitted seeking a warrant, which was signed by the Judge. On 9-16-25 Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office took Brewton into custody pursuant to the warrant. He was booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility, charged with Child Abuse. The adult male victim declined to press charges. Chief Brett N. Preston would like to thank the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.
