Cottondale drops to 4-3

Cottondale fell 38–14 on the road against the Liberty County Bulldogs. The Hornets opened the game strong, scoring eight points in the first quarter on a touchdown and conversion, while Liberty County answered with a touchdown and extra point. The Bulldogs pulled ahead in the second quarter with 18 unanswered points, then added seven points in both the third and fourth quarters. Cottondale managed one more touchdown in the fourth to close out the scoring.

Quarterback Nick Heinemann led the offense, throwing for 230 yards with one touchdown and one interception, completing 13 of 20 passes. He also led the team in rushing with 58 yards on 11 carries. Tramond Collins added 17 rushing yards on five carries and scored a touchdown. In the passing game, Collins caught seven passes for 99 yards, while Trashonn Collins contributed four receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Tramond Collins led the Hornets with six tackles. Demont Jackson and Tyler Jones each recorded five tackles, and Messiah Hudson added four. Despite solid individual efforts, Cottondale couldn’t overcome Liberty County’s balanced attack.

The Hornets will be like the Willie Nelson song, “On the road again” Friday night when the take on North Bay Haven Academy in Panama City. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m.
