Marianna Volleyball Wraps Up Season as District Runners-Up
By: Shelia Mader
The Marianna Bulldogs volleyball team closed out their season last Thursday night against a tough opponent, the Florida State Seminoles. The Seminoles claimed the district championship in three straight sets, 25-15, 25-19, and 25-11, with Marianna finishing as district runners-up.
The Bulldogs ended the year with a 10–13 record under first-year head coach Joy Hand, their first double-digit win season since 2022–2023 under former coach Kristen Massengill. It’s a clear sign the program is moving in the right direction.
Marianna earned their spot in the championship match with a dominant 3–0 shutout over the Altha Wildcats, taking the sets 25-7, 25-17, and 25-3.
With a relatively young roster this season, the Bulldogs will return a more experienced group next year and have plenty to look forward to in 2026–2027.
