Malone’s varsity baseball team put together a dominant performance in a 15–2 win over Poplar Springs on March 19, fueled by a balanced offensive attack and strong work on the mound. Kris Smith led the way at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring four runs, while Cristian Morales added a hit and RBI and crossed the plate three times. Trenton Jordan contributed two hits and an RBI, and TJ Rich drove in three runs with a hit. Ben Proctor and Byron Dickens Jr. each added an RBI, helping Malone pile up 10 total hits in the game.

On the mound, Jordan earned the win, working three innings while allowing just two hits and one earned run with two walks. Smith closed things out over the final two innings, striking out four and not allowing a hit or run. Malone’s pitching staff combined to limit Poplar Springs to just two hits while striking out four. Malone also stayed aggressive on the bases, with multiple players recording stolen bases to keep pressure on the defense throughout the game.

Malone is scheduled to return to the diamond Monday after spring break (March 30) when they travel south to take on the Altha Wildcats. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
