Chief Jammie Jeter recognized Gina Girdler before the Board of County Commissioners during its regularly scheduled meeting, honoring her five years of service to Jackson County.

In his remarks, Jeter shared a personal note, saying the name Gina is of Italian origin and means “queen.” He added that in her spare time, Girdler enjoys spending time with her children and her four grandchildren.

Jeter told the board that Girdler joined his department after beginning her career with the Department of Corrections. Prior to her current position, she also spent several years working at Jackson Hospital.

He went on to praise her work ethic and character, describing self-control as one of her strongest qualities. “She consistently rejects wrong and does what is right in all areas of life,” Jeter said. “She is one of the most dependable, punctual, and loyal employees you could ask for. Although she is very quiet, she has managed her post with little to no issues and has earned the respect of both her coworkers and the inmates.” He added that her demonstrated self-control has earned her significant access within the facility and shown that she is not just a coworker, but also a teacher through her service.

Commissioner Paul Donofro also offered remarks, noting the strength of the county’s workforce. “Mr. Chairman, I’d like to add that the county has been very blessed with many outstanding employees who provide quality work and responsible dedication to the county,” Donofro said, offering his congratulations to Girdler on her five years of service.

Girdler was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Board of County Commissioners.
