It’s all about hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet if you remember the jingle from years ago. Last Friday, Greenwood took it several steps further in honoring America’s freedom. They hosted an event that left no one out, from the smallest of children to the oldest veterans, everyone was taken care of.

Civil Air Patrol, under the direction of Bruce Adams, was present raise the flag in honor of the Fourth of July. There may not have been apple pie but there was plenty of food. They had grilled sausage dogs with Register’s donating plenty of sausage for the event. All the trimmings from chips, drinks, and water were available throughout the day. There was an abundance of frozen ‘Kool’ pops that were enjoyed by young and old alike in an effort to stay cool.

There was no shortage of activities for every age group. Horseshoes, corn hole, frisbee toss, and everything in between.

It was a come, enjoy, and stay as long as you like event with estimates of 200 in attendance. Everyone left happy and some talked about taking a tour of the historical sites in Greenwood, including the Willis House and other antebellum homes.

With the success of Friday’s event, the Town of Greenwood already have plans for another celebration in the future.
