Jackson County Darlings Roundup

Jackson County’s Darlings softball teams were busy on the diamond last week, with Sneads Little Volts picking up a win while BombSquad of Marianna and Graceville Darlings battled through high-scoring contests.

Sneads Little Volts 14, Cottondale Darlings Burnett 8

The Sneads Little Volts exploded offensively with 25 hits in a 14-8 victory over Cottondale on April 30.

Arabella Braddy led the way for Sneads, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. Charleigh Griffin also finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Brayley Davidson added three hits and two RBIs.

Savanna Dunham collected two hits and drove in a run, and Audrey Blighton had two hits with two RBIs. KayLeAnn De Los Santos, Braelyn White, Everlee Burdeshaw and Avery Jackson each added two-hit performances.

Sneads piled up extra-base hits throughout the lineup. Arabella Braddy finished with six total bases, Brayley Davidson had a triple, and Avery Jackson, Charleigh Griffin, Audrey Blighton, Braelyn White, Everlee Burdeshaw, Georgia-Kate Hill, KayLeAnn De Los Santos, Savanna Dunham, Annalise Griffin and Naomi Commodore all contributed extra-base hits.

Brayley Davidson earned the win in the circle, striking out nine while allowing eight runs on 15 hits over five innings.

For Cottondale, Adalyn Jackson, Harmony Hill and Journey Burnett each doubled. Journey Burnett, Adalyn Jackson and Harmony Hill each collected three hits, while Harmony Hill drove in three runs.

Marianna BombSquad 20, Cottondale Darlings Burnett 7

Marianna BombSquad used a huge middle innings surge to defeat Cottondale 20-7 on April 27.

Blakely Williams paced BombSquad with a 3-for-3 effort, scoring twice and driving in three runs. Halle Blank added two hits and four RBIs, while Britain Lasane, Brindal Matthews and Mackenzie Brigham each had three-hit games.

Skyy Cook and Linden Kate Bigale both added multiple hits, and Deshawna Perry contributed two hits and an RBI.

BombSquad racked up extra-base hits all over the field. Halle Blank tripled and finished with six total bases. Blakely Williams had five total bases, Brindal Matthews finished with four, and Britain Lasane, Harley Austin, Linden Kate Bigale and Mackenzie Brigham each added triples. Deshawna Perry and Ryleigh Johnson also recorded extra-base hits.

Cottondale answered with 18 hits of its own. Zoey Henderson led the offense with three hits, including a triple and double, while Emma Davison collected three hits and scored twice. Journey Burnett added three hits and an RBI, and Lydia Daniels had two hits and an RBI.

Emma Davison struck out five in four innings for Cottondale.

Cottondale Darlings Burnett 15, Graceville Darlings 14

Cottondale edged Graceville 15-14 in a back-and-forth contest on April 23.

Zoey Henderson powered the Cottondale offense by going 4-for-4 with four runs scored, a home run and seven total bases. Adalyn Kent added four hits and three RBIs, while Journey Burnett finished with three hits and three runs scored.

Emma Cosper collected three hits and scored three times, and Hayslee Mathis added three hits and two RBIs. Harmony Hernandez and Lydia Daniels each drove in a run for Cottondale.

Cottondale totaled 22 hits and also got extra-base hits from Adalyn Kent, Harmony Hernandez and Lenora Lyons.

Graceville was led by Harmonee Myrick, who went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and a home run. Audrey Skipper added three hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs. MaKenna Bradley collected four hits and scored twice, while Peyton Walters added three hits and two RBIs.

Gracie Crutchfield finished with three hits and an RBI, and Rhein Walker contributed three hits and a run driven in.

Emma Cosper struck out 10 for Cottondale in four innings of work, while Journey Burnett recorded a strikeout in relief.
