Lady Bullpups Continue To Dominate On The Diamond

Marianna K-8’s softball teams stayed busy over the past week with multiple games for both the Bullpups A and B squads. The stretch included a dramatic one-run win over Roulhac, a dominant shutout over the Sneads Middle Lady Pups, and a split for the B team against Ray Sharks and Roulhac. Several Bullpups delivered key hits while strong pitching performances helped power Marianna to wins on the field.
Marianna K-8 A 3, Roulhac Middle 2
Marianna K-8’s A team edged Roulhac Middle School 3-2 in a tight contest on March 10. The Bullpups collected eight hits in the win. Gracee Rooks led the offense with two hits and a run scored. Kamdyn Tew added two hits, while Brynley Lipford doubled and scored. Aynzley Smith, Sydney Green and Aamyia Speights each recorded a hit and drove in a run for Marianna.
Kate Barton delivered a strong performance in the circle, pitching a complete game. Barton allowed eight hits and two runs, only one earned, while striking out eight batters and issuing no walks over six innings to earn the win.
Marianna K-8 A 18, SMS Lady Pups 0
The Bullpups A squad exploded offensively in an 18-0 run-rule victory over the SMS Lady Pups on March 12. Marianna scored seven runs in the first inning and added eight more in the second to take control early. The Bullpups finished with six hits and drew 16 walks in the game.
Kate Barton had a big day at the plate with two hits, including a double, and five RBIs. Emmalynn Bellamy went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs, while Aamyia Speights added a hit, a double and two RBIs. Several Bullpups also drove in runs with productive plate appearances, including Gracee Rooks, Aynzley Smith, Brynn Sangaree, Sydney Green and Kamdyn Tew.
Barton also handled the pitching duties, tossing three shutout innings. She allowed just one hit while striking out five and walking none to secure the win.
Marianna K-8 B 5, Ray Sharks 3
The Bullpups B team picked up a 5-3 road victory over the Ray Sharks on March 9. Marianna scored all five of its runs in the second inning and held on behind a solid pitching performance.
Charity Langland led the offense with two hits and a run scored. Peyton Cleavenger added a hit and drove in two runs, while Brynn Sangaree recorded a hit and an RBI. Maci Kent also contributed with a hit and a run scored.
Sangaree went the distance in the circle for Marianna, pitching four innings. She allowed four hits and three runs while striking out seven and walking three to earn the win.
Roulhac Middle 7, Marianna K-8 B 2
Roulhac Middle defeated the Bullpups B team 7-2 on March 10. Marianna recorded three hits in the game. Brynn Sangaree and Ava Barnes each doubled and drove in a run, while Charity Langland added a single. Natalie Tyus also scored a run as a courtesy runner.
Amelia May started in the circle for Marianna, pitching one-third of an inning and allowing five runs, four earned. Sangaree pitched the final 3⅔ innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits while striking out four.
