Dellwood Baptist Church gives back

Dellwood Baptist Church is led by Reverend Gary Gable. The church is well-known throughout the community for the work their church does not just within their church but for the community at large. They are the first to respond to any need, any crisis they may arise. One of the many things they do is support education by assuring that children have the necessary school supplies when opening day arrives.
This past Saturday, Dellwood Baptist Church held their annual Backpack and School Supplies Giveaway for the Dellwood and surrounding communities. Over 100 backpacks were distributed. Reverend Gable said, “Attendance was down a little. We have given away as many as 200 backpacks.” He attributed the lower attendance to the growing number of back-to-school drives being offered this year.
Robyn Gable said, “This is the fifth year the church has hosted the event in an effort to help families with back-to-school expenses. Donations from church members and the community make it possible to purchase backpacks and basic school supplies, such as notebook paper, folders, pens, pencils, crayons, and rulers. In addition, each backpack includes a New Testament Bible (donated by the Gideons), a Bible tract, and a handwritten, personal note card written from members of the church letting each child know they are loved and that the church is praying they will have a safe and successful school year.”
She said each year several church members volunteer to pack the backpacks and hand them out. Before the event starts, Pastor Gary Gable prays over the backpacks and for each child who receives one as well as their families.
