Man arrested for theft of an occupied vehicle

The Jackson County Times received the following press release from the Marianna Police Department.

On Sunday February 22, 2026, at approximately 4:35 p.m., officers responded to the Big Run Coin Laundry on Lafayette Street in reference to an attempted stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, who stated they were asleep inside their vehicle, which also serves as their residence, when an unknown male entered the vehicle and began driving away. The victim awoke and yelled at the suspect, who then exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot, traveling south on Milton Avenue.

The victim provided officers with a detailed description of the suspect. Officers canvassed the area and reviewed available video footage. A short time later, officers located a subject matching the description nearby. The individual was identified as Eddie Seago of Dothan, Alabama. He was wearing clothing consistent with that seen in the video footage and provided his name and date of birth upon contact.

Seago was taken into custody without incident.

Charges:

  • Burglary of an Occupied Conveyance

  • Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle

Seago was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was booked on the above charges.
