Man killed in Blountstown
BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla. – A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed Sunday evening.
According to the Blountstown Police Department, officers responded to Calhoun Liberty Hospital shortly after 6 p.m. in reference to a man suffering gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officers said through witnesses at the hospital, investigators determined the shooting occurred a Cooper’s Park off Mayhaw Drive.
With assistance from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, they found evidence of gunfire, including multiple shell casings at the park.
Investigators identified Kellen Speights, 21, as their suspect in the case.
He was later apprehended by officers with the Tallahassee Police Department.
He is charged with an open count of homicide and faces additional charges for fleeing and eluding Tallahassee police officers.
