Marianna Police Department Press Release : May 12, 2025

Bomb Threat Response

On Friday, May 9, 2025, the Marianna Police Department, in coordination with the Marianna Fire Department, responded to a reported bomb threat at the Jackson Human Resources Center, located in the 4100 block of Jireh Court. Upon arrival, officers and fire personnel promptly evacuated the building and the surrounding parking area to ensure the safety of all occupants. Although investigators later determined that the threat did not specifically reference a bomb, all actions were taken out of an abundance of caution.

The Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations Bomb Squad was requested to assist. An explosives detection K-9 unit was deployed to thoroughly search the building and nearby vehicles. No explosives were found during the sweep.

Following a comprehensive investigation, the scene was declared safe, and the threat was determined to be not credible. Chief Hayes Baggett extends his sincere appreciation to the Marianna Fire Department and the Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations Bomb Squad for their swift response and professional support during the incident.
