Mill Pond will not be drained
Numerous calls and texts today inquiring about the condition of the Mill Pond, the reason for the 18-inch drop overnight prompted us to reach out to Jackson County Assistant Administrator Rett Daniels.
Daniels said, “There is a lot of buzz on the level (of the Mill Pond) this morning, but someone forced the control panel open and raised the gate. The motor was inoperable until yesterday evening, and I confirmed with the electrician everything was left as they found it. I adjusted it back this morning so water level will begin to rise.” That information was obtained at 9:15 this morning.
Daniels added, “The County has not manipulated the water level.”
The Times will continue to monitor this situation and update our readers as information becomes available.
