MK8 Shuts Takes Two Wins Over Grand Ridge in Softball

The Grand Ridge softball teams hosted the Marianna Bullpups last week, but it was the visitors who enjoyed the ride home. Marianna K8 ‘A’ team rolled past the young Indians in decisive fashion. MK8 ‘B’ team took a 11-4 win over the Indians.

MK8 ‘A’ Team Wins Big over Grand Ridge

Brynley Lipford got the start in the circle for the Bullpups and was dominant, tossing a one-hit shutout. She walked one and struck out six. Grand Ridge countered with Raelee Maphis, who surrendered three earned runs on three walks before Ella Clark came on in relief to finish the game.

At the plate, Leetie Green accounted for Grand Ridge’s lone hit with a double. Katelyn Franklin added a walk to round out the Indians’ offense.

Marianna’s lineup was productive from top to bottom. Kate Barton led the charge with two hits, a walk, three runs scored and four RBIs. Kamdyn Tew followed with two hits, a run scored and two RBIs, while Graycee Rooks had two hits, a walk, three runs scored and an RBI.

Adyson Brown added two hits, a walk and three runs scored. Sydney Green and Aamyia Speights each finished with a hit, a run scored and two RBIs. Emmory Bellamy scored once and drove in two runs, and Lipford helped her own cause with a hit and a run scored.

Grand Ridge ‘B’ falls short to MK8

The ‘B’ teams took the field with the Bullpups taking the 11-4 win over the Indians.

Grand Ridge sent Kinslee Phillips for the starting job in the circle. She gave up six unearned runs, 11 total on seven hits and two walks, and struck out four batters. Marianna sent Amelia May for the start. She gave up two runs on three walks and no hits. Peyton Clevenger came on in relief, gave up two unearned runs on one hit, three walks and struck out three batters. Brynn Sangaree closed out the game, gave up no runs on no hits, no walks and struck out one batter.

Grand Ridge was led offensively by R. Davis with a hit and an RBI, followed by Eva Sprouse with two walks and two runs scored.

For Marianna, it was Charity Langland leading the way with a hit and three runs batted in, followed by Peyton Clevenger with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Layky Clark was on board with a hit, two runs scored, and an RBI. Sabra Carter had a hit and two runs scored, followed by Natalie Tyus with a hit, a walk, and two runs scored, while Ava Barnes had a hit and scored a run.

Both teams will be back in action this week. Come out and check out a game.
