Optimist Park Soccer Winding Down

Three leagues are finishing up the spring soccer season but competing at the highest level to capture that all-important city championship title. From the Tiny Mites to the Juniors, the excitement on the field was nothing short of awesome.

Tiny Mite Kicking Their Way to a Win

It was a defensive battle May 14 wen the Knights fell 0-1 to the Indians, while in game two it was another shutout with the Lightning doubling the score to win 2- over the Cobras.

On Monday, May 18, yet another 1-0 shutout with the Lightning winning 1-0 over the Indians.

PeeWee League is Finishing Strong

The PeeWee League has been a notch above this year, knowing they’ll soon be representing the granddaddy of them all when they move up to the junior league.

On May 11, it was the Sharks taking a 4-2 win over the Chaos, while the Storm dealt a 3-1 loss to the Giants. It was a pair of 4-0 shutouts in the late games with the Tornadoes swarming over the Raptors and the Wolves taking care of the Vipers.

In the lone game on May 15, it was the Chaos bouncing back with a 3-1 win over the Wolves.

Junior League is Showcasing Their Skills

The Junior League was kicking high last week, knowing every win was an important one.

United defeated Malone 2-1 in a hard-fought battle before the Crushers repeated that score against the Arsenal on May 14.

On May 15, it was the Extreme shutting out the Fusion 3-0 in game one. The Extreme spread their scoring around with Destiny Tyus, Emma Austin, and Carter Hughes all finding the back of the box. In the nightcap game, it was the Fire exploding offensively to win the game 8-0. Scoring for the Fire were Caleb Hoover, Ayden Brown, Canaan Langland, Ryker Haller, Tristian Davis, Malachi Hoover, Jacob Stafford, and Trevin Robarge,

Scores from previous games with stats:

Tiny Mites: On April 28, the Lightning knotted it up with the Cobras 2-2. Kaydence Weston and Joshua Dunaway each scored a goal. Marcus McCameron was a good team player throughout the game.

On April 30, it was a 5-0 shutout of the Lightning over the Knights. Joshua Dunaway had two goals, while Johnathan Wickham Taylor Horne and Johnathan Shack each notched a goal. Coach Wickham said of the game, “Everyone played hard. It was a lot of team effort.” 

PeeWee League: On 4/14, the Tornadoes knotted it up 3-3with the Sharks. Scoring for the Sharks were Jewel Grandberry with one goal and Jace Gross with a pair of goals.  Stats for the Tornadoes were not available.

The Sharks defeated the Giants 4-0 on April 21. Aurelius Bishop notched two goals, while Kayson Foulks and sure-footed Jace Gross recorded one goal each.  On April 27, it was the Sharks winning 8-1 over the Bulldogs. Scoring for the Sharks with four goals was Jace Gross. Adding two goals was Aurelius Bishop while Hunter Wright and Jewel Grandberry each found the back of the box once.
