Pedestrian killed in Accident in Jackson County
JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. - A pedestrian is dead following a collision with a car on US Highway 231 just south of Dionne Road on Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 8:13 p.m., according to troopers. A 37-year-old woman was driving an SUV on the inside lane of US Highway 231 as a 34-year-old man was walking in the same lane, FHP wrote in the press release.
The front left of the SUV then hit the man, according to FHP.
“Due to the collision, P01 [pedestrian] was then thrown into the air, before colliding with a construction sign that was located in the median of US Highway 231,” FHP wrote in the press release.
Troopers wrote that the man went through the sign and landed in the median of US Highway 231. The SUV stopped at the entrance of a Welcome Center.
The pedestrian’s injuries were reportedly fatal, FHP wrote.
