Word of the Day

Friday: Obsecrated: Verb. To be declared sacred, set apart religious use, or dedicated to a deity.  She obsecrated the king for mercy, hoping he would spare her family from exile.

Saturday: Obfuscated: Verb. To deliberately make something obscure, unclear, or difficult to understand. The official’s complex explanation only obfuscated the true purpose of the new policy, leaving everyone more confused.

Sunday: Panache: Noun. Refers to lively grace and style. The case of the play was excellent, even those playing supporting characters acting with great panache.

Monday: Sensate: Adjective. Perceiving or perceived by the senses. Many animals have sharper sensate abilities than humans.

Tuesday: Ratiocinate: Verb. Form judgments by a process of logic, reason. To solve the murder-mystery game, you must ratiocinate based on all the clues.

Wednesday:  Jargoon: Noun. A translucent colorless or smoky gem variety of zircon. I found the vintage jargoon brooch at my favorite antique store.

Thursday: Nugatory: Adjective. Of no value or importance. Useless or futile. It’s nugatory to plan anything that far in advance.
