Cottondale Volleyball Wraps Up a Stellar Season
By: Shelia Mader
The Cottondale volleyball season has come to a close, marking one of the most memorable runs in recent years. The Hornets finished the regular season with an impressive 19-3 record, a true Cinderella story by any measure.
After defeating Bethlehem twice during the regular season (3-0 and 3-1), Cottondale fell to them in the district playoffs. The team still earned a bid to the semi–quarterfinals, where they faced a tough Jay squad. Jay entered with a 21-4 record and went on to defeat the Hornets 3-0, improving to 22-4 on the year.
Cottondale’s roster was notably young, featuring only three seniors and two juniors. With so many players returning next season, the future looks bright for this talented group. Throughout the season, the Hornets played with heart, teamwork, and determination, giving their all every time they stepped on the court.
The Times extends best wishes to seniors Kendall Benefield, Elizabeth Kornegay, and Memphis Seat as they prepare to graduate in May. To the returning Hornets, set your goals high and take it one game at a time.
