Word of the Day!

Friday: Gallimaufry: Noun.  A confused jumble or medley of things. 2) a dish made from diced or minced meat, especially a hash or ragout. The party will be a potluck, but I plan on serving a gallimaufry big enough for everyone to share.

Saturday: Skirl: Noun. A shrill wailing sound, especially that of bagpipes. He skirl from the parade marchers could be heard from the other side of the town.

Sunday: Palindrome: Noun. A word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backwards as it does forward. The palindrome ‘race car’ was on the sports car’s license plate.

Monday: Moil: Verb. Work hard. She seemed lost as she moiled around the street corner.

Tuesday: Consummate: Adjective. Very skilled or accomplished. Ever the consummate professional, the planner ensured the event went off without a hitch.

 Wednesday: Behest: Noun. Can refer either to an authoritative order or an urgent prompting. The committee met again at the senator’s behest.

Thursday: Abeyance: Noun. A formal word that is almost always used in the phrase “in abeyance’ to describe something in a temporary state of inactivity, a state of suspension.
