Sneads Angels are District Runners Up

The Sneads Angels All-Stars competed in district action this past weekend and gave 100% through four games. They played hard and they never gave up, giving 150% through every game until the final out was made. In their opening game Friday night, they fell short against Wewa 6-3, before bouncing back Saturday with a pair of wins. The defeated Liberty County 10-9 in a barn burner, followed by a short break before they took on Port St. Joe. That was a defensive 3-2 battle that Sneads came out the winner. Sunday in game one, they took on Franklin County and walked away with a 13-8 win.
Wewa takes 6-3 win
The Wewa All-Stars used a four-run fourth inning to rally for the 6-3 win over Sneads in the opening game of districts for the Angels division. Wewa drew first blood with one run in the first inning. Sneads answered with two runs in the bottom of the second inning with Wewa tying it up in the top of the third inning with a run. Wewa added four runs in the top of the fifth to move ahead 6-2. Sneads came back with one run in the bottom of the frame but fell short of a comeback rally.
Kar’Lee Cain and Kinslee Phillips led Sneads at the plate with a hit and an RBI each, followed by Treelynn Deese with a walk and a run scored. On board with a walk each were Kelsie Marie Roulhac, Olivia Carnes, Kennedy Belford, and Zoey Caraballo.
Sneads wins nailbiter against Liberty County
The girls took the field Saturday morning with a lot of intensity, and you just knew a win was in their future. They didn’t disappoint but gave the fans their money’s with a 10-9 victory over the Liberty County All-Stars.
Leading Sneads offensively was Treelynn Deese with a hit, a run scored, and two RBIs, followed by Kar’Lee Cain with two hits, one walk, one run, and one RBI, while Harper Caraballo recorded a hit, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. On board with three walks, two runs scored, and an RBI was Kennedy Belford, while Kinslee Phillips had three walks and an RBI, with Olivia Carnes recording three walks and two runs scored. Zoey Caraballo and Kelsie Marie Roulhac both drew two walks and scored a run, while Olivia Carnes drew a walk.
Sneads wins another nailbiter
Offense sells tickets while defense draws excitement and in game two Saturday, there was definitely excitement. Knowing from the start of the game, that one run could be the deciding factor, both defenses had their ‘A’ game working. It was a 3-2 win for the Sneads Angels to send them to the championship game the next day.
You don’t win many ballgames with three hits unless you hold your competition to two hits which is exactly what Sneads did.
Offensively, Kar’Lee Cain led the way with two hits, a run scored, and an RBI, followed by Kinslee Phillips and Alisa Branch each with a hit and a run scored, while Kelsie Marie Roulhac recorded a walk and an RBI. On board with a pair of walks was Kennedy Belford, followed by Treelynn Deese and Harper Caraballo both drawing a walk to round out the offense.
Sneads advance to the championship with win over Franklin County
The hearts of the Sneads Angels was definitely with them when they took the field Sunday afternoon against Franklin County. They knew a win put them in the championship game and a chance for state championship. They dealt Franklin County a 13-8 loss.
Sneads jumped out with seven runs in the first inning and held Franklin County to four runs. Sneads countered with four runs in the top of the second inning to make it an 11-4 game. They added one run in the top of the third with Franklin County answering with four to make it a 12-8 game. After a scoreless fourth inning, Sneads posted the final run of the game in the fifth inning to take the win.
They were led at the plate by Karl’Lee Cain with two hits, one run scored, and three RBIs, followed by Treelynn Deese with four walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs, while Kelsie Marie Roulhac recorded two walks one run scored and one RBI. On board with one walk, a run scored, and an RBI were Alisa Branch and Olivia Carnes, while Olivia Hansford had two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. Harper Caraballo, Kinslee Phillips, Kennedy Belford, and Haysleigh Baxley all recorded two walks and scored a run, with Brooklyn Galbreath drawing two walks, and Zoey Caraballo drawing a walk and scoring a run to round out the scoring.
The Angels finished out the day with another game against Wewa and simply ran out of gas. They fell to Wewa after playing five games, more than any other team and not one complaint, not one excuse.
