Sneads Pirates WIN over Bozeman
By: Shelia Mader
It had been building for weeks. The Sneads Pirates felt a win coming, and a road trip to Panama City to face the Bozeman Bucks turned out to be the right setting. Sneads picked up its second win of the season in dramatic fashion, edging Bozeman 48-46 in overtime.
Regulation ended with the teams tied at 38, sending the game into an extra period. CJ McDaniel delivered when it mattered most, knocking down seven of eight free throws in overtime to seal the victory for the Pirates.
The night did not start in Sneads’ favor. Bozeman jumped out to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter and continued to control the pace in the second, outscoring the Pirates 7-4 to take a 22-8 advantage into halftime. At the break, Coach Tyler Wilson challenged his team, and the response was immediate.
Sneads came out of the locker room with renewed energy, scoring 12 points in the third quarter while holding the Bucks to six. The momentum carried into the fourth, where the Pirates poured in 18 points and limited Bozeman to 10 to force overtime.
Overtime belonged to Sneads, and especially to McDaniel, as the Pirates closed out the hard-fought win.
John Loftus and CJ McDaniel led Sneads with 13 points each. Camden Wycoff added nine points in the victory.
