Twins win with twins
The Twins have not had the best season thus far this year, but that all changed last week. They picked up their first win of the season at the expense of the Dodgers. The MLB Minnesota Twins can relate with their 12-16 record on the season. The Dodgers, on the other hand, entered the contest last week with a 4-2 record, having success much like their namesake, the MLB Los Angeles Dodgers. Everything lined up just right for the Optimist Park Twins for them to pick up their first win of the season, a 7-6 win over the Dodgers. Even more unique to this team, is they have a set of twins on the team, Seth and Silas Schuler who will readily admit they can’t take credit for the win, but both did contribute going two-for-two on the night.
In the top of the first inning, Bently Gray tripled and scored on a double by Marcus Kelly, Jr. In the bottom of the frame the Twins answered with three runs. Maddox Gilbert doubled to lead things off and advanced to third on a sacrifice by Tyler Smith. Davis Alday picked up two RBIs when he homered. Oliver Self tripled and with two outs, scored on a double by Seth Schuler. Silas Schuler singled, followed by a single to River Everett singled to load the bases but no further runs crossed the plate in the first inning.
In the top of the second inning, with one out, Amarion Davis singled, followed by singles to Mason Hardwick and Beau Thomas but no runs scored for Dodgers. The Twins were three up, three down in their half of the inning.
A two-out single by Jusi Douglas was the only offense for the Dodgers in the third inning. It was a three up, three down inning for the Twins in the bottom of the frame.
The Dodgers plated five runs in the top of the fourth inning, taking a 6-3 lead. Marcus Kelly, Jr. tripled and scored on a single by Samuel McKay. Dylan Benton singled to put runners on the corners and set up an RBI single by Kingston Grant. Amarion Davis doubled home two more runs before scoring on a single by Mason Hardwick.
The Twins’ bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth with four runs crossing the plate to give them a 7-6 lead. Maddox Gilbert led off with a double and moved to third on a sac by Tyler Smith. Davis Alday singled home Gilbert before a one-out double by Brody Signorelli scored Alday. Seth Schuler doubled to score a run before twin brother Silas Schuler joined the hit parade with a double to score his brother.
The Dodgers threatened in the top of the fifth inning with a two out triple by Marcus Kelly, Jr. but the inning ended on a groundout to first, giving the TWINS their first win of the season.
