Teen arrested on multiple charges in Marianna

A 17-year-old from Alabama has been arrested on multiple charges in Marianna.

According to the Marianna Police Department, officers responded to the Marianna Probation and Parole Office about a vehicle being left unattended in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they reportedly learned the vehicle had been reported stolen from Cottondale.

Witnesses told law enforcement that a male had left the vehicle and described his clothing.

According to police, before the call, an officer had observed the subject matching the description near the intersection of Clinton Street and Jefferson Street.

We are told officers canvassed the area and found the individual at Madison Street Park, matching the description provided by witnesses.

Officers said when they tried to make contact, the individual reached toward his waistband and refused to comply with commands.

According to law enforcement, officers attempted to detain him, and he fled on foot.

After a brief struggle and a foot pursuit, officers were able to restrain the subject.

Police said during the investigation, he provided officers with a false name and date of birth.

Law enforcement confirmed his identity as Nathan Howard Hicks. Officers said they learned he was an escapee from a juvenile detention facility in Dothan, Alabama.

Hicks was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Panama City.

He has been charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest with Violence, Providing False Name to Law Enforcement, and a Probation Violation.
