Pee Wee League is Kicking High
By: Shelia Mader
The Pee Wee League is just one notch away from the granddaddy of all rec soccer leagues, and these players know it! With cleats laced, shin guards strapped, and hearts full of hustle, they are itching to show off their very best “kicks and tricks.” Eight teams deep, this league promises action, excitement, and plenty of memories for both players and fans. And if opening week is any sign of what’s ahead, hold on tight, because it’s going to be a whirlwind season!
Sharks Shut Out the Bolts
The Sharks came into the season with loads of experience and proved it in dazzling fashion. They dominated from whistle to whistle, posting a commanding 10-0 victory over the Bolts. Porter Tolin led the offensive explosion with a jaw-dropping four goals, while Wynn Bruner notched his first hat trick of the season. Adding to the scoreboard were Tysen Smith with a pair and Lane Bruner with one. The Sharks were simply unstoppable.
Storm Takes on the Chaos
The Storm showed up ready to roll, taking a 6-1 win over the Chaos. Jace Gross was the highlight reel of the night with four goals, while Easton Bellamy chipped in two more. In goal, Lucy Brock was a brick wall, giving up just a single score. That lone Chaos goal came from Fernando Lopez, proving the Chaos had fight in them.
Wolves Control the Crew
The Wolves put on a clinic in their matchup, powering past the Crew with an 8-1 win. Hudson Lyons and Aniyah Fluitt both put up hat tricks, while Ira Hoover added two goals of his own. The Crew’s bright spot came from Owen Morgan, who slipped one past the keeper for their goal.
Tornadoes Edge the Cobras
Defense ruled the day in this 3-1 battle, but the Tornadoes walked away with the win. Kolton Hodge netted two goals, while Daniel Ralko added one more. The Cobras’ lone goal came from Titus Malone, who showed plenty of grit. Tornadoes’ keeper Jacob Bracewell wowed the crowd with save after save.
Storm Rolls Past the Giants
In true Optimist Park fashion, where it feels like “everybody knows your name” the Storm and Giants faced off in a battle of experience versus youth. While the Storm had the upper hand on the scoreboard, Coach Clay Wells praised both teams: “Everybody contributed and everybody did great!” The Giants’ shining moment came when Cooper Ferguson found the back of the net with help from teammate Param Patel.
Tornadoes Shut Out the Bolts
The Tornadoes unleashed their offense in a 7-0 shutout win. Amaris Curry led the charge with a hat trick, followed by goals from Tahjinay Smith, Kolton Hodge, Jacob Bracewell, and Jonah Daniels. The Bolts may have been blanked, but their determination to keep fighting until the final whistle showed the heart of true competitors.
Chaos Wins Slim Over Wolves
Fans got their money’s worth in this nail-biter, as the Chaos squeaked past the Wolves 4-3. Christian Green put away two goals for the Chaos, with teammates Micah Yoder and Gracelynn Hall adding one each. For the Wolves, Aniyah Fluitt scored twice, and Ira Hoover added one.
Cobras Notch a Win Against the Crew
The Cobras roared to life with a 6-1 win over the Crew. Titus Malone stole the show with a hat trick, while Francesca Zazzera, Isaiah Ellis, and Jace Allgood all found the net. Allgood also racked up three assists to cap off an outstanding night. Carlee Overdear was the Crew’s spark, netting their goal and firing up her team.
As the first week of action wrapped up, one thing became clear, Pee Wee League soccer at Optimist Park is the place to be! The players bring the hustle, the fans bring the noise, and together they’re making this season one to remember.
