Dean’s appointment comes with a salary of $120,000 per year, which commissioners agreed is in line with expectations for the position. Since Dean is not eligible to participate in the Florida Retirement System (FRS), the county has arranged to fund a deferred compensation account for him through one of its approved providers. The county will contribute $41,424 annually to the account to mirror the retirement benefits typically provided under FRS.

In addition to his salary and retirement arrangement, Dean will receive a $500 monthly vehicle allowance, which will be paid bi-weekly along with his regular paycheck. His benefits package will also include paid holidays, annual and sick leave accruals, as well as medical, dental, and life insurance coverage.

The motion to approve Dean’s employment was made by Commissioner Paul Donofro, Jr. and seconded by Commissioner Donnie Branch. The vote passed unanimously.

He brings an abundance of experience to the table, having served as city manager for the City of Marianna for 15 years. He is well-known for his knowledge of governmental operations and a solid administrative background.

Dean brings experience and leadership to the position as Jackson County looks ahead to continued growth and development under his administration.
