John William Skinner

John William Skinner

John William Skinner of Ashford, Alabama passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 68.

William was born in Graceville, Florida on June 15, 1957, to the late Clyde and Gertrude Skinner. He retired after 30 years as a licensed water specialist with the city of Dothan, Alabama. William’s favorite hobby was working from dawn to dusk and anything in between. He did enjoy a good visit with his family and friends, especially his special friends at the Broadway Café in Ashford, Alabama. William was an active member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where you would find him every time the church doors were open and making sure everyone had a nice cold cup of water, tea, or hot coffee at all the church socials. We all agree that William can easily have said, “may the work I’ve done speak for me.”

William is preceded in death by his parents, son Brandon William Skinner, two brothers Earl Skinner, James Skinner, and one sister Dorothy Granger Wisler.

He is survived by his beloved wife Teresa Skinner, Graceville, FL, two brothers Floyd Skinner (Gloria), Panama City Beach, FL, Hulon Skinner (Carolyn), Fadette, AL, two sisters Judy Williamson (Mike), Panama City Beach, FL, Marie Crosby (Sam), Leesburg, FL, brother-in-law Charlie Wisler, Graceville, FL, sister-in-law Elesa Gilbert (Johnnie), Webb, AL, a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Adams officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until time of the service.

In lieu of flowers family request memorials be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 2376 Grady Garner Road Slocomb, Alabama 36375
