Dorothy Louise Young, 102 of Chipley, passed from this life on August 11th, 2025 at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital.

Dorothy was born on April 23, 1923 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Charles and Ethel (Stanford) Grant. She worked for many years at the Piggly Wiggly and was a member of the Church of Christ.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ira David Young; her brothers: Charles Grant, Donald Grant, Bobby Grant, Billy Grant, O’Neal Grant; sisters: Martha Jean Grant Copeland, Virginia Grant Polhill.

 She is survived by her children: David Young and wife Sally of Niceville, Florida, Cindy Pettis of Bonifay, Florida; grandchildren: Richard Young and wife Tara of St. Augustine, Florida, Brittany Justice and husband Jeremy of Bonifay, Florida, Cody G. Pettis of Chipley, Florida; great grandchildren: Cash Young, Morgan Ashcraft, Dylan Justice, Keegan Justice, Raelyn Justice, Finn Justice.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and two sister-in-laws.

 Funeral service will  be held 11:00AM Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Chipley, Florida with Bro. Edward Prescott officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. 

 The Young family would like to express their gratitude for the love and care shown by the staff on the 3rd Floor Skilled Nursing Unit at Northwest Florida Community Hospital.  In Lieu of Flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Northwest Florida Community Hospital 3rd Floor Skilled Nursing Unit at 1360 Brickyard Road, Chipley, FL 32428.
