Linda Elizabeth Henley
Linda Elizabeth Henley
Linda Elizabeth Henley, age 78, of Chattahoochee, Florida, passed away on July 10, 2026, in the same community where she was born on June 17, 1948. She was a beloved Christian woman whose life was marked by devotion to her family, her friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Linda lived a life of quiet strength, steady kindness, and generous care, and she will be remembered with deep love by all whose lives she touched.
Linda was born in Chattahoochee, Florida, to the late Greene B. Johnson and Frances Watson Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sara Brogdon, and by her granddaughter, Jessica Weeks. Her family roots ran deep in the community she called home throughout her life, and those roots were reflected in the way she loved, served, and supported others with unwavering faithfulness.
A graduate of Chattahoochee High School, Class of 1966, Linda began her career at Florida State Hospital as a nurse’s aide, but soon moved into the security department where she exemplified hard work, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility. In 2007, after over 30 years of dedicated service she retired from FSH security. Her years of service were a reflection of her dependable nature and her commitment to helping others. She was known as someone who could always be counted on, and she carried that reputation with humility and grace.
Linda’s greatest joy came from her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Lorenzo and her husband Luis, and LaRae Harrelson and her husband Chris; her sons, William “Ikey” Weeks, Jr. and his wife Becky, and Tim Henley and his wife Molye; and a large and loving family of grandchildren, Jordan Lorenzo, Jamie Weeks, Jerry Weeks, Angel Weeks (Ishmael), Kendal Jackson, Bryce Henley and his wife Jordan, Brent Henley, TJ Henley, Gage Harrelson, and Jacy Harrelson. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Jones, Elijah Jones, Avery Weeks, Kha-lani Flounery, Elouise Henley, and Sunnie Henley, who brought her great pride and happiness.
She is further survived by four nephews, Larry Brogdon, John Brogdon, Russell Brogdon, and Bruce Brogdon; one niece, Rosemary Jenkins; many special friends who were dear to her heart; and her faithful dog, Thunder. Linda treasured the people in her life and made room in her heart and home for many. She was a caretaker of everyone, and she welcomed those in need with compassion and without hesitation. She housed anyone who needed help, gave freely to those who were struggling, and offered comfort in countless ways. To many, she was more than a loved one. She was a source of strength, a listening ear, and a steady presence. She was truly known as momma or grandma to many.
Linda especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the grandchildren’s ballgames and faithfully watched them on television when she could not be there in person. One of her simple pleasures was getting a chocolate milkshake with her daughter, LaRae, when she came to town, a tradition that reflected the warmth and joy she found in life’s small moments. Her love was practical, constant, and deeply felt, and her family will forever cherish the memories she helped create.
Those who knew Linda Elizabeth Henley will remember her as a woman of faith, generosity, and devotion. Her life was a blessing to her family and to her community, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
