Ann May Hinkle

Ann May Hinkle, a loving, kind, and friendly Christian woman whose life touched family, friends, neighbors, and patients across two states, died on May 9, 2026, in Marianna, Florida. She was 87.

Born on March 31, 1939, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, Ann carried the values of hard work, compassion, and steady devotion throughout her life. She later built a life marked by service and deep personal connection, becoming known for the warmth she brought to the room, and the care she extended to everyone around her. Her life story was one of commitment, resilience, and quiet strength, and those who knew her best remember a woman who gave generously of her time, her attention, and her heart.

Ann pursued her education with purpose and earned an Associate in Science degree in Registered Nursing from Dutchess Community College. That achievement helped launch a career in nursing in both New York and Florida, where she served others with skill and compassion. In her work, she was trusted not only for her professional knowledge, but also for the reassurance she offered to patients.

She also found joy in simple pleasures, including fishing with Danny, spending time with her cat Cici, watching the Florida Gators play football, and keeping up with her pen-pals. She enjoyed gardening and traveling in her retirement years.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Hinkle; her sons, Ronald Stock and Harold Stock; her mother, Mary Elizabether Anderson-Lowe; and her father, Peter Bradley Lowe. She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Ann O'Neill and her husband Thomas, and Lisa Joan Acken and her husband Gerald; her step-daughter, Bambi Budkie-Hinkle; and her grandchildren, Matthew, Kimberly, Andrew, Jason, Edwin, Lauren, and step grand-daughter Nina along with 14 great-grandchildren. She is also remembered with love by neighbors who became family, Jacob and Amber Hoover. Her family and loved ones will remember her for the encouragement and comfort she gave, the laughter and stories she shared, and the dependable love she offered throughout her life.

Ann’s legacy is one of a life lived with sincerity and heart. She will be remembered as a woman who made others feel welcomed and loved.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Pope Cemetery beginning at 1:00 PM Central Time with McAlpin Funeral Home directing.
