Charles "Chuck" Elmer Bender

Charles "Chuck" Elmer Bender, passed from this life on February 14, 2026, in Marianna, FL. Born on May 1, 1955, in Ontario, California, Chuck grew up in a family that valued strength and kindness, characteristics he carried throughout his life.

Chuck enlisted in the Air Force in 1973. During his commendable 20-year career, he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. His service was characterized by dedication and excellence, taking him around the world, including stints in March Air Force Base, a stint in Germany, George Air Force Base, Nellis Air Force Base, Tyndall Air Force Base, Clear Air Force Station Alaska, and finally Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

It was in 1991 that Chuck's heart led him to another chapter of love and companionship when he married Elaine, his cherished partner. Together, they embarked on a new journey, settling down in Marianna, Florida in 1999, where they found happiness in each other's company.

Chuck's sense of adventure and his love for the great outdoors were unmistakable. He was an avid fisherman and a skilled marksman who found joy in shooting, hunting, and simply being amidst nature. His passion for these hobbies was infectious, often bringing together family for memorable outings. He was baptized as a young man in the Lutheran Church and his faith remained a steady, guiding force throughout his journey.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Martin Bender and Virginia Loretta Page Bender; his cherished son, Dennis Miller; and Chuck's siblings, Loretta C. Boswell, Daniel E. Bender, Jack D. Bender, Jerry L. Bender, Virginia P. McCarroll, Martin E. Bender and Edward J. Bender.

His legacy is carried forward by his beloved wife, Elaine Bender; his daughters,Lori Bender Hicks, Lisa Kieffer (Nick) and Tammy Bender (Ronnie); his siblings, Ruth Ann Spielman ( Leo), Frances E. Hunnicutt, Lois Motzer (Chris), and Terrence L. Bender (Pat); six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Their lives, forever imprinted with his wisdom, generosity, and love, are a testament to the wonderful man Chuck was.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. (CST) Friday, February 20, 2026 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Chaplain Gino Mayo officiating. The family will receive friends for viewing and visitation one hour prior to the service.

A graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. (EST) Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Tallahassee National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by planting a memorial tree in honor of Chuck's love for the outdoors.
