Charles Edward McDaniel

Charles Edward McDaniel, age 79, of Sneads, Florida, passed away on July 28, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1947, in Quincy, Florida, and lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to others, and a quiet, steady kindness that touched many along the way.

Charles graduated from Gadsden County High School in Quincy, Florida, and carried the values of his hometown with him throughout his life. He later made his home in Sneads, Florida, in 1996, when he married the love of his life, Cecielia Baxley McDaniel, on Valentine’s Day. Together, they built a life filled with companionship, shared memories, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of family and home.

For many years, Charles served as a Senior LPN at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida, where he was respected for his dedication, compassion, and dependable work ethic. He gave much of himself in service to others and retired after a long career that reflected his caring nature and commitment to helping those in need. In addition to his work in healthcare, he was also a cartoonist for The Twin City News in Chattahoochee from 1980 until his retirement, sharing his creativity and sense of humor with the community for many years.

Charles enjoyed reminiscing about the past and riding the dirt roads of Gadsden County with Cecielia, often showing her the places where he grew up. These moments were among the treasures of his life, and he found great happiness in sharing his memories with the person he loved. He especially loved his family and was known for the care and devotion he showed to those closest to him. One of the most meaningful acts of his life was caring for his mother until her last day on this earth, a reflection of the deep love and loyalty that defined him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sherriell O. McDaniel; his mother, Nellie Gunn McDaniel; his son, Paul Edward McDaniel; and his brother, William McDaniel. He is survived by his precious wife, Cecielia Baxley McDaniel; his step-daughter, Lisa Henry; his step-son, Cecil Henry; his brother, Richard McDaniel, and his wife, Caroline; four grandchildren, Phoenix Henry, Kelley Liles, April Miller, and Natalie Miller; one niece, Jessica McDaniel; and two nephews, Eric McDaniel and Quinten McDaniel.

Charles Edward McDaniel will be remembered for his steadfast love, his gentle spirit, and the many ways he enriched the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the work he performed with pride, and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Charles, will be at McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads, FL on Friday, July 31, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM Central Time.    

A time of Visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Burial will take place in Dykes Cemetery in Sneads, Florida immediately following the funeral service.
