Flora Elizabeth Melvin Pumphrey, 89, of Marianna went home to be with the Lord on June 30, 2026. Flora was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed working in the church. She dearly loved spending time with her family. She was a retired teacher from Blountstown Elementary School. Flora was preceded in death by her parents, Enoch and Lula Chason Melvin; husband, Alfred Pumphrey; brother, Ronald Melvin; sister, Linda Sue Oliva; sons, Randel Pumphrey, Steve Pumphrey, and Jim Pumphrey. Survivors include son, Luther Pumphrey and Mary of Marianna; daughters, Gloria Mercer and Derek of Grand Ridge, Gwendolyn Barwick and Coy of Clarksville; daughters-in-law, Frances Pumphrey of Altha, Pauline Pumphrey, Debbi Pumphrey of Altha; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday July 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM CT until 7:00 PM CT at the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held Monday July 6, 2026, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church starting at 2:00 PM CT with Reverends Luther Pumphrey and Charles Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cementery. All arrangements are under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
