Clara B. Deese

Clara B. Deese, age 90, of Cottondale, FL passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Vitas Hospice in Panama City, FL.

Clara was born on September 9, 1935 in Hazelhurst, GA to the late Theodore and Vianna Evans. Clara married the love of her life, Horace, on December 4, 1954 in Hazelhurst, GA and soon after moved to Jackson County. In her free time, Clara loved to travel, watch western TV series, make quilts, crocheting, gardening, and visiting the mountains.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Deese of 67 years; her parents; her brothers, Oscar Evans, George Evans, Roger Evans, Bo Evans; sisters, Mary Argo, Gladys Leverett and Ruby Renfro; grand children, Robbie Clausen and Dereck Deese; as well as one great grandchild, Jeffery "JJ" Clausen.

Clara is survived by her sons, Donald Deese of Cottondale, FL, Lonnie Deese of Cottondale, FL, Larry Deese and wife, Marie, of Cottondale, FL, Jerry Deese and wife, Lisa, of Houma, LA; daughters, Vicky Bruner and husband, Tim, of Cottondale, FL, Judy Barfield (Jay Edvabsky) of Marianna, FL, Anita Clausen and husband, Tom, of Taylor, AL as well as 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. Survivors also include her beloved dog, Gypsie.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor James Braxton officiating. Interment will take place following the service at the First Assembly of God Cemetery in Cottondale, FL, with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. 

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Those serving as pallbearers include: Kevin Weeks, Perry Weeks, Eddie Elmore, Keith Deese, Kade Weeks  and Gary Lyon. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the exceptional care provided by the Gulf Coast Medical Center, Vitas Community Health & Rehabilitation Center as well as Zack Dickson with the Northwest Florida Community Hospital.
