Dwight “Gator” David Barksdale

Dwight “Gator” David Barksdale, born on February 15, 1957, and died on August 26, 2026, lived a life marked by service and a deep love for the people in his life.

In his younger years, Dwight was involved in karate, an interest that reflected both his discipline and his determination. He later served as an EMT and as a volunteer firefighter. Dwight also loved to hunt, and he found enjoyment in the outdoors. His greatest joy was his family. He loved them deeply and faithfully, and that love was evident in the way he lived each day. He married Katherine in 1981 in Palm Beach, Florida. In 2021, he moved to Marianna, where he continued to build a life surrounded by the people and routines he cherished. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Carol Barksdale; and daughter, Tammy Walker.

Gator is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Katherine Barksdale of Marianna, FL; son, Marvin Kinder and wife, Sherry of Marianna, FL; daughters, Tina Walker of Lake Placid, FL, Sabrina Kinder of Crossvillle, TN; as well as fourteen grand-children and nine great grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. Memorialization will be by cremation with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
