Eunice Tipton Wilhelms

Eunice Tipton Wilhelms

Eunice Tipton Wilhelms passed away peacefully due to natural causes on May 24, 2026, at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee Florida.  She was born on March 1, 1943, in Bascom, Florida.

As reflected by her Senior Chattahoochee High School Class Book, “Beware!  I may do something sensational yet!”  For her senior year she was the Cheerleader, Captain; was in National Honor Society; Class Officer and served in other school positions.  Following are a couple of comments made by her classmates in her class book: “To a very sweet girl who has a wonderful personality.”  “To one of the sweetest girls I know, who I know will succeed in life.”

Her sensational life did explode when she met her husband of 61 years, Richard Wilhelms.  While he was serving in the Army (20 years), he also worked part time at the Sears and Roebuck Catalog Sales Department, Atlanta, GA.  As the story goes, he claims that he fell in love with her the first time he met her and tells others he ordered her through the Sears Catalog.

Her worldly travels began with Rich’s military experiences in Mannheim, Germany for three years.  Next, she was serving as an Executive Secretary with him in the American Embassies of Budapest, Hungary; Ankara, Turkey; Jakarta, Indonesia; Tehran, Iran; and Cairo Egypt.  Closing her travels with him in Washington, D.C.  Her southern personality, professionalism, trustworthiness, did result with her doing something sensational.  She earns the expression, an honorable American representing our country.

For years she has been the teacher for the Dorcas Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Chattahoochee.  She also served in many other church-related activities, for example VBS and Shoe Box Ministries.  She was noted for her enactment of the Missionary Lottie Moon.

Predeceased by her parents, Ralph Tipton and Eula Daphine Tipton, she has two brothers; Reeves (Andy) and sister-in-law Susie, and Harley & sister-in-law Ethel, as well as numerous dear cousins who will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, Wilhelms’s family ask that you consider a contribution to the First Baptist Church Chattahoochee.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Eunice is planned for Friday, May 29, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM Eastern Time in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
