Floyd Wayne Paul

Floyd Wayne Paul

Floyd Wayne Paul, 66 of Bonifay, Florida, died Friday, May 1, 2026, at Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City. Wayne was born to Odell and Peggy Riffie Paul on August 27, 1959, in Sebring, Florida.

To many, Wayne was known by his nickname “Moondog”. He acquired this name in his younger years, during a time that he lived a wild, addicted, & destructive life. Although he is still known by that name, his lifestyle changed when he gave his heart & life to Christ. It was then that he asked the Lord to guide his path.

The new path led him to jail ministry, where he shared his testimony with inmates, who, in some cases, were men he knew from his “previous life.” He wanted to share with them what Christ had done for him and encourage them to let Christ come into their lives.

In addition to this local ministry, he was led to reach out further through mission trips. This included trips to Peru, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, China, Slovakia, & South Africa, which gave him the opportunity to work, pray, and worship with people who showed him what “true worship” is.

When his physical body started to wear out, he enjoyed fishing, camping, being outdoors, & just “doing nothing”. Wayne was an avid reader all his life.

He especially looked forward to November when it was “Paul Camp” time. He really enjoyed sitting around the campfire, catching up with distant kin, spending time with his daddy, brothers, sons, grandsons, & most recently his great-grandson. He loved all the laughter, jokes, pranks, card playing, music, camp cooked meals, & all the men just being together.

He knew how blessed he was to have “the best parents a man could have,” a close family, four children that became strong, hardworking, respectable adults, as well as two grandsons following the same path as young adults. He lived a life full of love for Christ, his wife, his family, & friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Floyd & Jewel Paul; maternal grandparents, Lon & Reca Riffey; uncles, Bill Paul, Floyd Paul Jr., Jimmy Paul, Stanley Paul, James Riffey, Truman Riffey, & Harold Baucom; aunts, Martha ( Paul) Griffin, & Eva Lea (Riffey) Baucom; and cousin, Mike Baucom.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kay Paul; four children, Donnie (Sally) of Dothan, AL, Jeanine, Charles, & Olen; three grandchildren, Daniel, Avery, & Sadie; one great-grandson, Justin; his parents, Odell & Peggy Paul; two brothers, Edward “Eddie” (Sheila) Paul & Brian (Angie) Paul; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a great host of friends.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Carmel Assembly of God Church with Reverends Jerry Moore, Jonathan West, and Tommy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Assembly of God Cemetery, with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 -10:30 prior to the funeral service.
