Gregory Nickels, age 71, of Marianna, FL died Monday, June 8, 2026, at Chipola Health & Rehab Center. He was born on May 14, 1955, to Robert Nickels and Betty Brown Nickels Pelton in Vancouver, WA. Gregory later made his home in Florida, where he worked for the State of Florida for more than 20 years, and retired from Sunland Center.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a passion for sports. He was on the bowling league and enjoyed football, fishing, swimming, pool, and darts. Gregory was a devoted fan of the Seminoles and loved cheering on his favorite teams. Those who knew him will remember his friendly spirit, sense of humor, and enjoyment of life's simple pleasures.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Debra Walling; and his cousin, Tony Shumaker. He is survived by his son, Shawn Nickels and wife, Melynda; his brother, Harold Pelton; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nickels; cousins, Joe Shumaker and Christopher Shumaker. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
