Henry Maddison McClain

Henry Maddison McClain of Cottondale, FL, passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by family and friends.

Henry McClain was an Ordained Minister of The Living Word of Faith. He served several churches in the Jackson County area as a Pastor and Sunday School teacher.

Henry served in the United States Navy for 25 years, obtaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer as a Storekeeper (Logistics Specialist). After completing his service to this country, Henry worked as a truck driver, retiring after 10 years of loyal service. He also drove a school bus for the Jackson County School District. He was an avid farmer who unselfishly shared the bounty of his harvest with his neighbors and community. He especially enjoyed making and giving away his homemade hot pepper sauce.

Henry in preceded in death by his father and mother, Willie Brown and Willie Francis McClain; three brothers, John, Kenneth, and Lamar McClain; and a sister, Inez Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda McClain; children, Glenn McClain (Lisa) of Jacksonville, FL, David McClain (Debbie) of Cottondale, FL, Jennifer Mills (Terry) of Dothan, AL, Paul McClain (Zeandra) of Cottondale, FL; three sisters, Mildred Able, Kathryn Taylor and Sarah Bass; 32 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Henry was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and would take every opportunity to share his passion and faith for his Lord and Savior with any and every-one that crossed his path. It can truly be said that Henry loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, and soul.

Henry was also a huge family man. With his large family, he was thrilled and excited and often would say doubly blessed when his family were all assembled in his and Linda's home to love and fellowship with one another.

A Celebration of Life for Henry will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 23, at First Assembly of God in Cottondale, Florida, with Bro. Jimmy Wright and Bro. Jeremy Pooler officiating. Burial will follow in Cottondale Assembly of God Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am prior to the service

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice for the love and care shown to Henry.

Henry will be missed, but his memory and his legacy will continue to live on through the lives of his family and friends.
