John Allen Grantham
John Allen Grantham
John Allen Grantham, 82, of Marianna, Florida entered his Heavenly home on December 3, 2025 at Your Life Memory Care facility in Tallahassee, Fl.
John was born on June 2, 1943 to John Jackson Grantham and Elsie Strickland Grantham at “Jam Corner” in the west end of Marianna, Fl.
He was a 1961 graduate of Marianna High School. After graduation John had an early career in law enforcement, first at the Marianna Police Dept. and then the Panama City Police Dept., serving several years at both.
He then went to work in the agricultural field, working for the Asgrow Chemical Co. for 40+ years, retiring as a valued employee from a management position. This work suited him well, as he enjoyed the outdoors and interacting with the farmers.
John married the love of his life, (Mary) Sue Dudley Grantham on April 13, 1973. For almost 50 years (until her death) they enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling the area, and going to old-time heritage “Days” and festivals. John enjoyed tinkering in his “Man Cave”, working in his yard, and always appreciated a good, hearty meal. He was always ready to help in any way he could, and made sure things were done well.
John’s home church was Grace Methodist (Marianna), he and Sue attended Eastside Baptist (Marianna), and he last attended Grace Assembly (Chipley) where he was baptized.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Sue Grantham and his step-daughter Gina Edwards Rowell.
Survivors include a daughter Tonya Grantham Crawford, step-son Terry Edwards (Penny), grandchildren Angela Pettis Chase (William), Jeremy Edwards (JerriLynn), Joseph Edwards (Courtney), Tirzah Edwards Conrad (Brandon), Chelsea, Cori and Sean Crawford, and numerous great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a special sister Carolyn Grantham Grimsley, sister Brenda Grantham Carter, brother Kenneth Grantham and several nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial gathering will be held at a later time.
