Linda B. Sturgeon passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2025, in Tallahassee. An only child, she was born in Cottondale, Florida on August 24th, 1943 to John S. and Louise Braxton. Linda B. Sturgeon

In addition to a long, varied career, she was a writer at heart and truly loved telling stories. She was an award-winning author for her two published works, Lady of the House and Bloodlines. She was proud of her Southern roots and to have come from a long line of farmers and educators. She loved animals (especially her two rescue dogs) reading, cooking, watching Westerns, rainy day naps and a little something sweet at the end of every meal.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Sturgeon, her daughters, Randi Lynn and Lisa Renee Modlin and her beloved mother, Louise Young. She leaves behind her only granddaughter, Jessica A. Orr (and husband Eric Dollar, her "grandson"), her cousin, Faye Robbins, pups Sadie and Snuffy, and countless close friends and loved ones.

To my Mimi, I will never be able to thank you for raising me and keeping me safe. You were the light in my life; my mother, my father, my grandparents all rolled into one. The gifts you've given me will stay with me for the rest of my life. I hope I can make you proud.

At her request, there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to your local ASPCA or hospice organization.
