Mary Kay Thomas, born on November 14, 1960, in Muncie, Indiana, and passed away on June 14, 2026, in Marianna, Florida. She lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and steadfast love for her family.
Mary spent most of her working years as a CNA, a role that reflected her desire to help those in need. In addition to her years in healthcare, she also served as a personal secretary for her husband Joe’s screen and pool enclosure company.
She found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. Some of Mary’s favorite memories were fishing for catfish with her family and friends. Her famous slogan when casting was “Cheese and all” as that was her favorite bait to use. She also enjoyed coordinating bike rides for her husband, Joe. Above all, she loved her family deeply. Her greatest accomplishments were supporting her husband, raising her children and being present in their lives.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lebert and Flora Bland; her sons, JC Thomas, II and Richie Thomas; brothers, Jerry Bland and Donald Bland; sisters, Carol Yingst and Phyllis Bland.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Joe Thomas; sisters, Mona Bland, Margaret Isenberg and Dorri Paskiewitz; brothers, David Bland (Kelly), Joseph Bland, John Bland, Terry Bland (Denise) and Timothy Bland; second mother and father, Nonie Gustafson, Richard Gustafson; her grandchildren, Haleigh Casey, Harleigh Thomas, Aleigh Thomas. She also leaves behind many other family members and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory and the example she set through her life.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be at Pilgrim Rest Assembly of God Church and will be announced at a later date.
Interment will be private in Vickery Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Lambe family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
