Mr. John C. Bruce

Mr. John C. Bruce, of Marianna, Florida, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 2, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida, at the age of 66.

Born on September 20, 1959, in West Palm Beach, Florida, John grew up imbued with the warmth and spirit of the Sunshine State, a characteristic that would define his entire life.

John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clarence Bruce and Hattie B. Pettis. His memory will be held dear by his adoring family, including his children: Kaalum Hankins, Sr. and his wife Jennifer, and their children Kaalum Hankins, Jr., and Kayson Hankins, all of West Palm Beach, Florida; his daughter Tiffany Bruce and her children, Kevin King, Jahema McWhite, and Tiana McWhite; and his daughter Tavia Bruce and her daughter, Vernicia Maurice. John’s presence will also be greatly missed by his sister Pamela Bruce Carroll; special friends Bernard Davis and his wife Cozey of Marianna, Florida, who, along with the rest of the family, will carry on his legacy of love and wisdom.

John was a master of his craft, working diligently as a drywall technician. His skill and dedication to his trade were surpassed only by his commitment to the people around him. His colleagues will remember John as a man who was not only proficient in his work but also brought a sense of calm and camaraderie to every job site.

Those who knew John would describe him as the epitome of loving, wise, and gentle. His kindness touched the lives of many, and his wisdom was a guiding light for friends and family alike. John's gentle approach to life, his patience, and his quiet strength were qualities that drew people to him and made them feel at ease in his presence.

In honor of John's life, his family will gather privately to share memories and to commemorate the profound impact he left on each of their lives. John Bruce's story is one of love and devotion, and while he may have departed from this world, the essence of who he was will forever be woven into the fabric of his family's history.

A service of Life Celebration was held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11 AM, in the M. Sue and Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel, 5441 Cooper Street, Graceville, Florida under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.
