Mr. John Perry Hewett
Mr. John Perry Hewett, 79, of Marianna and Panama City, FL, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born on May 25, 1946 in Valdosta, GA to John and Mary Hewett. John married Cynthia Louise Litzau on December 19, 1981 and together they raised their daughter, Christine in Panama City Beach, FL.
After retiring from his career as a Merchant Marine, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and acquired a love for horses.
John was known for his positive outlook on life.
On January 15, 2017 he married Lanet Hatcher Hewett. They celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary last week while John was in the hospital.
John is preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia Louise Litzau; and his parents, John and Mary Hewett.
He is survived by his wife, Lanet Hatcher Hewett; daughter, Christine Iazzi and husband Joseph; brother-in-law, Mark Litzau; sister-in-law, Alicia Litzau; step-daughter, Kathy Mitchell and husband Jeff; step-son, Tracy Fears and wife, Lori Fears; grandchildren, Caroline-Louise, Caleb, Lauren and Taylor; cousins, Allen and Laurie Davis.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Trinity Baptist Church, 3023 Bumpnose Road, Marianna, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church New Building Fund in memory of John Hewett.
