Mr. Leon M. Lawrence

Mr. Leon M. Lawrence age 69, of Graceville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 8, 2026, in Panama City, Florida.
Leon M. Lawrence was born December 6, 1956, in Graceville, Florida to Effie D. Richardson and Jake Lawrence, Jr.

At an early age, Leon joined Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church, Graceville, Florida under the leadership of the Reverend L. J. Flowers.

Leon attended Graceville Elementary School. Afterwards, he and his family moved to New Jersey, where he attended Irvington High School and graduated Class of 1974. Leon began working for Amtrak Railroad in New York City, New York, repairing and rebuilding railroad tracks He truly loved his job and retired after 20 plus years.

Upon retirement, Leon moved back to his hometown of Graceville, Florida. He enjoyed playing pool, cards, and swimming. He loved listening in to music, his favorite radio station being 102.5.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Effie D. Richardson and Jake Lawrence, Jr.; brother, Louis B. Richardson; grandparents, the Reverend S. M. and Odie Chatman.

He leaves to cherish his life to his brothers: Eddie C. Richardson of Severn, Maryland, Danny Richardson of Bloomfield, New Jersey, Willie Richardson of Albany, Georgia and Elder Harry Lawrence (Patricia) of Roselle, New Jersey and Graceville, Florida; aunt, Queen Sorey of Campbellton, Florida; special cousins: Christilla Best of Graceville, Florida and Larry Long of Graceville, Florida; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 3:00 P. M. at the Browntown Community Church in Graceville, Florida under the directions of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Florida.
