James  Arthur Warren, Sr.

James  Arthur Warren, Sr., age 97, of Marianna, FL, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Jackson Hospital.

Known to his family as 'Papa' and friends as 'Jim', he was born February 14, 1928 in St. Louis, MO, before moving to Jacksonville, FL, where he enlisted in the Navy at a young age. He was a courageous and proud veteran that dedicated 23 years to serving his country in the
U.S. Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After his service, Jim and his wife, Carol, moved to Marianna, FL, where he continued his steadfast career with the local Volkswagen dealership, later as a correctional officer, working 15 additional years before his retirement. Jim lived a life of service and was quick to offer help to those in need.

He looked forward to all of the FSU sporting events and was part of the "Breakfast Club" every morning at the Waffle Iron. He enjoyed woodworking; especially crafting beautiful wooden toys. His passion also extended to the lake for a day of fishing and to the garden, where his green thumb enabled him to cultivate an eye-catching array of plants, his favorite being orchids.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Henry M. Warren and Myrtle W. Durnell; his wife of 56 years, Carol James Warren (Nana); his son, Scott R. Warren, and his brother, George M. Warren.

Jim's legacy is carried forward by his son, James A. Warren, Jr. or Marianna; grandchildren, Whitney Blount and her husband, Derek of Wausau, Matthew Warren and his wife, Michelle of Hanover, PA, and Hannah Warren of Gainesville, FL. He also leaves behind his adored great grandchildren, Ava and Tate. He was also fortunate to have been welcomed into the lives of the family of Rena and Kevin Chumley and their daughters, Allysa and Katelyn and their children, Stella and Layla.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 29, 2025 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with full military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lambe Family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
